Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, when taught properly. That’s why we keep our training private and focused. We
take the time to ensure you’re truly comfortable, confident, and prepared for every dive.
You’ll always train at your own pace, with safety as the top priority.
We conduct pool sessions at partner facilities in the NJ/NY area or arrange access to
private pools. Open water dives are typically held at Lake Hydra (old Dutch Springs)
or shore-accessible locations in NJ/NY. Wreck, night, and deep dives may involve boat
charters. Locations are selected based on your course and comfort level.
All instruction, dives, mentorship, and PADI processing fees (when applicable) are
included in your quoted course fee. PADI eLearning costs are either bundled or itemized
depending on the course. Gear rental, dive site/charter entry fees, and travel are not
included and will be arranged separately.
We can provide or arrange rental for all scuba gear except wetsuits and drysuits. You’ll
need to bring your own exposure protection appropriate for the dive environment (e.g.,
5mm or 7mm wetsuit, or drysuit if certified). We’ll help you determine what’s needed and
guide you on how to rent or purchase the right suit if you don’t already have one. All
other gear (BCD, regulator, tanks, weights, mask, fins) can be rented through us.
No. GO for a Dive is built around private, one-on-one instruction or small private groups
(friends, couples, or families). This means you get personalized attention, flexible
scheduling, and the ability to learn at your own pace—without being held back or rushed
by others.
Despite offering private training, we price our courses competitively with group
classes at traditional dive shops, so you get professional, customized instruction
without paying a premium.
Yes. All instruction is scheduled around your availability. Weekend, evening, and
weekday options are all possible. We believe learning to dive should work with your life,
not against it. If you don’t see an option that fits your schedule, please contact us.
Yes. You can complete your academics and pool training with us (Part 1) and then
complete your open water dives elsewhere (Part 2), or vice versa. This is called a
referral. We also offer the full certification program from start to finish.
Absolutely. We offer a wide range of PADI specialty courses including Enriched Air
(Nitrox), Dry Suit, Deep, Wreck, Night, and Rescue Diver, as well as Advanced
Open Water and Divemaster training. If there’s a specialty you’re interested in, just
ask.
